Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet 2018 Info

Hi Parents and swimmers,

Patti Wilder county finals is here at last!

This meet marks the end of another exciting summer swim season. Does your  swimmer want to take their swimming to the next level? Or swim in a pool similar to an Olympic pool? If your answer is YES then Patti Wilder is the meet for you.

What is the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Meet?
It is an optional county championship swim meet. After our summer swim season ends on June 27th, all teams in both Cobb Summer Swim League and West Georgia Summer Swim Association send a limited number of swimmers to the county championship meet. It is also the state qualifying meet for the Georgia Parks and Recreationg Class "A" State Swim Meet. To make the Cobb County state swim team, you must finish in the top 3 overall and be 7 years or older. Swimmers 5-6 can only compete in Patti Wilder.

How competitive is it?
MUCH more competitive than any of the “dual” regular season meets! It's like a mini Olympic meet where swimmers practice swimming in a more serious environment in front of a larger audience. Over 800 swimmers compete annually from all around Cobb County, representing a whopping 70 total teams. Only around 192 swimmers of these 800 will make it on to the state team (around 24%). As intimidating and challenging as this meet may sound, it really is EXTREMELY fun!

Does Piranha-Waves host practices for their Patti Wilder Meet Participants?Yes! Practice will be at your practice pool during regular practice time using the following schedule.:
  1. Session 1 --> June 28th - June 29th 9-10 am there will be PATTI WILDER PRACTICES at both pools. This will allow PW Swimmers extra practice while not amending the regular season Morning Practice Schedule.
  2. Session 2 --> Friday June 29th, time TBD at Mountainview Aquatic Center. Cobb County P.A.R.K.S. will open the PW Meet Pool at Mountain View Aquatic Center the evening before the first day of PW Meets for all CSSL and WGSSA teams to use for practices. Our team will host a practice for all of our PW Swimmers in 2-3 of the lanes in the meet pool during the times listed above.
Is it mandatory?
NO!!! The Patti Wilder Meet is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL TO ALL SWIMMERS!
